How the preschool is run

The preschool sessions are run by a team of staff and as a whole is managed by Elaine McManus. Elaine’s role and of responsibility include policy decisions, fund raising input, general administration, finances, admissions, staffing, garden and maintenance.

Stepping Stones Childcare & Education CIC; is a community Interest Company, therefore is a non profit making company and will rely on grant funding.

With this in mind all parents/carers will be encouraged to attend fundraising meetings and are entitled to vote on which committee posts are elected. Committee meeting dates are advertised on our Facebook page, newsletter and we remind you via our text messaging service. We always welcome new parents to the committee and we value their support. All ideas and suggestions relating to any aspect of preschool will be given serious consideration.

Caring for Your Child

We aim to take the best possible care of your child while at our group. All members of our staff team and committee are screened through the Disclosure and Barring system and Ofsted as appropriate. We ensure all practitioners receive training in Paediatric First Aid, Child Protection, Behaviour Management, basic Food Hygiene and Health and Safety.

We also carefully check the setting every day before your child comes in to ensure that everything is working properly and that our classroom, garden and playground are in good order. We have designated practitioners to safeguard our children as child protection personnel.

Each child has a member of staff responsible for overseeing their development and welfare called a key person.

We aim to foster a learning community in our setting and understand the importance of a good home-preschool partnership. We welcome parents into our setting.

Preschool staff are aware that the amount of time needed to settle in will vary from child to child. All children will be given the reassurance and comfort they need to feel secure and happy. However, if you have any concerns, the staff are always happy to discuss these, advise and offer assistance.

Partnership with the Coupals Primary Academy

Stepping Stones Childcare & Education CIC works in partnership with Coupals Primary Academy, the manager meets regularly and shares information with the school teacher in charge of Foundation Stage Curriculum for the school in order to ensure continuity of education for your child.
This has the added benefits of a seamless transition from preschool into school. Our children also have the opportunity to attend and become involved with some of the school’s activities and events.
We also work in partnership with other feeder schools and welcome to the reception teacher into our classroom to meet and greet your child in their familiar surroundings.

We celebrate children’s transitions to ‘big’ school by having our own graduation ceremony :)

Please note that attendance at Stepping Stones Childcare & Education CIC does not guarantee a place at Coupals Primary Academy.
